Care & Maintenance

Care Guide – Deep South Oceanwear

Keep Your Gear Adventure-Ready

Your Deep South mask is designed to deliver crystal-clear underwater adventures. With a little care, it will provide years of reliable performance.

Your mask features a factory-applied anti-fog coating. Treat it gently to keep it performing at its best.

Protect the Anti-Fog Coating

To preserve the anti-fog treatment, keep the inside of the lens away from anything abrasive or chemical.

  • Never rub or scrub the inside of the lens
  • Never use toothpaste, abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or chemical solvents
  • Never use rough cloths, brushes, or your fingernails
  • Avoid drying in direct sunlight or using heat

A little care will keep your mask crystal clear for many adventures to come.

Before Every Ocean Adventure

Rinse your mask with fresh water before heading in. Avoid touching the inside of the lens — natural skin oils reduce the effectiveness of the anti-fog coating over time.

After Every Ocean Adventure

  • Rinse thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt, sand, and chlorine
  • Allow your gear to air dry naturally in a cool, shaded area
  • Avoid harsh detergents, solvents, or abrasive cleaners
  • Never wipe the inside of the lens with rough fabrics or paper towels. If needed, use a soft microfibre cloth designed for eyewear
  • Do not leave your mask in direct sunlight or inside a hot vehicle — excessive heat can affect the silicone over time
  • Store your mask in its Deep South 100% biodegradable waterproof bag to protect the lens from scratches
  • If needed, use only a drop of mild dishwashing liquid and your fingertips to gently clean the silicone and the outside of the lens. Rinse thoroughly afterwards

A Few Extra Tips

  • Handle your mask with clean hands
  • Avoid placing the lens face down on hard or rough surfaces
  • Store in a cool, dry place when not in use
  • Inspect your mask regularly for signs of wear before entering the water
